Cladtek was contracted by Wood, a multinational energy services company to produce 30” CRA pipe spools and assembly structure for Exxon Mobil PNG LNG. The pipe spools required pre-assembly and dimensional survey providing a turnkey solution, installed into existing process piping during a plant shutdown.
To ensure smooth onsite installation Cladtek fabricated the 30” pipe spools with a very precise assembled tolerance of 3mm based on the existing tie in points located over 30m apart. Cladtek’s scope of work included engineering design, procurement of rigging and lifting gear, procurement of carbon steel, structural and piping fabrication, pre-assembly, dimensional survey, painting and thermal spray aluminum coating. The complete scope was performed in house.
Cladtek Delivers World’s Largest Diameter MLP for MPN
(an Exxon Mobil Company)
Cladtek has successfully completed manufacture of over 21km of 24” diameter Mechanically Lined Pipe (MLP) for Mobil Producing Nigeria (MPN), an Exxon Mobil subsidiary. The pipe is to be installed subsea at MPN’s Idoho field, and at 24” diameter will be the largest diameter mechanically lined pipe installed anywhere in the world.
The delivery represents an outstanding achievement for Cladtek and MPN. Being a world first, the project faced a number of challenges but a highly cooperative approach between project stakeholders Cladtek, Mitsui, Delta Afrik and MPN, coupled with innovative thinking and strong technical knowhow assured successful outcomes.
Cladtek Comissions New Brazil MLP Facility on Time and Ready for Production
Cladtek has successfully installed and commissioned a new Mechanically Lined Pipe (MLP) Facility in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil. The plant was 100% designed, procured and installed by Cladtek, starting mid-March 2019 with the first production pipes beginning the first week of December 2019, equaling a total project execution time of eight and a half months.
The factory represents the first 100% Brazilian MLP Fabrication facility and was put in place to cater for the strong future demand for MLP in the Brazilian oil and gas sector. This strong demand is fueled by a long list of upcoming expansion projects at the same time as the domestic petroleum sector moves away from flexible lines towards rigid pipes.
The on time commissioning is a huge achievement for Cladtek and sets a precedent for future expansion projects around the globe. The fact that the first pipes were being produced under 12 months after the initial concept was decided upon highlights Cladtek’s versatility as a company and ability to adapt its business model to varied markets around the globe without the need for external resources.
The capacity of the plant itself has been initially designed to cater for the current projects in the Brazilian market whilst having space available in key areas to expand throughput capacity if the future demand continues to rise.
