Cladtek Delivers 28km of 14” and 16” CRA Lined Flowlines for PDO/Shells – Harweel Project.

With a value in excess of USD35m this is Cladtek’s largest project to date and on of the largest value orders for CRA Flowline every placed in history.  The Harweel Project selected 2mm thick liner materials to optimize utilization of the high cost alloy 825 CRA liner material.  This presented a number of challenges that were overcome by Cladtek with the cooperation of Petrofac.  In order to facilitate field welding each end of each pipe was overlay welded with two layers of alloy 625 to give 3mm of CRA at the ends.  Cladtek’s Twin Wire Hot Wire GTAW Process was used to clad the ends.  The Hot Wire GTAW Process gives superior fusion line interface geometry to facilitate the use of Automatic UT inspection of the completed girth welds.  Cladtek have pioneered the use of overlay welding on lined pipe ends.
